Acorus Calamus is also used to make candy, with the roots washed, peeled, cut into small pieces, boiled, and simmered into a delicious and fragrant syrup.

Acorus Calamus is also widely used as a pond plant in horticulture, with one tetraploid ornamental cultivar known as ‘Variegatus’ and ‘Argenteostriatus’. The dried and pulverized roots contain a compound which is useful as an insecticide in organic farming.

Acorus Calamus is a species of flowering plant with psychoactive chemicals. It is a tall wetland monocot of the family Acoraceae, in the genus Acorus.
